Bulamba Robert M

Robert Bulamba is the Head of Epidemiological and Social Behavioral Sciences Research at AMBSO and also a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT). He is an Epidemiologist, Biostatistician, Data Scientist, and a Public Health Specialist, providing strategic leadership for the design, implementation, and oversight of epidemiological, behavioral, and population health research and service programs. He has worked for AMBSO since inception.

Prior to assuming his current role, Robert led AMBSO's Data Management and Statistics Section, where he was instrumental in establishing and strengthening the AMBSO’s Data management infrastructure and systems, governance structures, and quality assurance frameworks that underpin the organization's research enterprise.

He played a pivotal role in shaping the integrity and reliability of the AMBSO Population Health Surveillance (APHS) platform from its inception, ensuring robust data management practices across clinical, epidemiological, and community-based research programs. With over 10 years of experience, he has successfully built and managed large-scale Research databases and contributed to studies spanning HIV prevention, sexually transmitted infections, cervical cancer, non-communicable diseases, mental health, alcohol use, implementation science, and population health surveillance.

Robert holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Statistics from Kyambogo University and a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Makerere University School of Public Health. He has undertaken a series of advanced trainings and mentorships in data management, statistical analysis, research designs and methodologies, and research administration and is currently undertaking his PhD in Medical Science at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden.

His research interests focus on epidemiology, non-communicable diseases, population health, risk factor analysis, implementation science, and community-based interventions. Through his growing portfolio of scientific publications and collaborations, Robert continues to contribute to the advancement of evidence-based public health and research excellence both in Uganda and internationally.
