Overview

About This Project

Uganda is among the most affected countries by the HIV epidemic with 53,000 New infections in 2018 despite a 42.4% decline since 2010. While this still shows tremendous progress, the decline is slower than envisioned particularly among young women especially in fishing communities and other micro-epidemic areas that harbor key populations including commercial sex workers and migrant workers.

Research Objectives

To estimate the proportion of incident recent HIV infections among AGYW aged 16-25 years in Hoima District, Uganda

2

To compare HIV incidence estimated using the Asante TM HIV-1 Rapid Recency POC kit with that obtained using the SediaTM HIV-1 Lag-Avidity EIA and the Abbot ARCHITECT HIV Ag/Ab Combo assays.
