Dengue infection, caused by the mosquito-borne dengue virus (DENV; Flaviviridae, Orthoflavivirus), ischaracterizedbyfever,rash,headache,myalgias,andarthralgias,withriskofcomplicationsdueto endothelial dysfunction and hemorrhage. Baselineepidemiologicaldataisurgentlyneededtodirectpublichealthresourcesandinterventions, such as vector control, mosquito bite prevention, and vaccination programs against dengue, to mitigatetheburdenofdengueinSub-SaharanAfrica(SSA).Arecentmeta-analysisfoundthatinSSA the prevalence of dengue during the outbreak periods was 29% (95% CI: 20–39%), and 3% (95% CI: 1–5%) during non-outbreak periods (3) Old age, absence of mosquito control programs, urban residence, climate change, and recent history of travel were identified as risk factors.
To establish dengue, other Arboviruses (Orthoflavirus, Alphavirus, Orthobunyavirus, Bandavirus, Phlebovirus), Coronavirus and Influenza virus families seroprevalence rates, by antibody detection assays, multiplex testing and virus neutralization testing among residents of rural and urban communities
To establish social ecological and clinical factors associated with seropositivity against selected virus families, among residents of rural and urban communities in Wakiso and Hoima Districts from 2018 through 2024
To estimate anti-dengue and anti-arbovirus antibodies seroconversion rates among residents of rural and urban communities in Wakiso and Hoima Districts from 2018 through 2024
